Frier Vest in 2025: Laying the foundation for industrial growth

The development of Frier Vest is well underway, with significant progress made toward completing the area's infrastructure. With major advancements over the past year, this industrial site is on track to become a key part of Norway’s logistics and industrial future.

Behind this development are both strategic decisions and essential partnerships that have enabled the work to progress faster than would otherwise have been possible.

Here is an update on the current status and future plans.

What Has Been Achieved So Far?

Frier Vest has been a highly active construction site, with extensive work carried out to prepare the area for future industrial and port operations.

  • Mass excavation: More than 5 million cubic meters of material have been moved by the contractor, Hæhre. This volume is equivalent to two Great Pyramids of Giza—a striking illustration of the scale of work completed.

  • Prepared industrial land: Large parts of the Frier Vest Asdal industrial site have now been developed, with a total of 240,000 square meters available for further expansion. Some sections of the site are already fully prepared.

  • Land and marine reclamation: Extensive land and marine reclamation work ensures that the infrastructure is built on a solid foundation, designed to withstand demanding conditions.

  • Reclamation for the new port: Port of Grenland (Grenland Havn) is constructing a public port terminal for industrial use. The marine reclamation work has been completed, and preparations for the quay construction are on schedule.

The rapid progress would not have been possible without key agreements that have paved the way for a comprehensive development of the area. Certain strategic partnerships have not only made the project feasible but also accelerated a process that would otherwise have taken much longer.

The development of Frier Vest demonstrates how targeted efforts and collaboration can create an industrial area designed for growth and innovation. We are laying the foundation for the industry of the future, where sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand, says Hans Olav Storkås, CEO of Frier Vest.

Plans for 2025

With essential groundwork nearing completion, we look forward to another exciting year of progress. Key priorities for 2025 include:

  • Erosion control and stone revetment: Work to protect the port areas will continue, reinforcing the durability and functionality of the site.

  • New access road: Completion of a new road connecting the port to surrounding areas will improve logistics flow and facilitate efficient transport.

  • Finalization of port areas and quay construction: The port infrastructure will be prepared for operations, with a strong focus on meeting modern efficiency and safety requirements.

As the foundational work nears completion, Frier Vest is entering a new phase of development. The coming year will be crucial in positioning the area as a prime location for leading industrial players and a central hub for future logistics and industry.
