Basis for green industrial development in Grenland.

Statkraft and Frier Vest have entered into a collaboration agreement to develop and promote what could become Norway's largest seafront industrial area. Frier Vest, encompassing approximately 7,000 acres of commercial and harbor areas centrally located in Bamble municipality in Grenland, works towards the further development of existing and new industries across various sectors to promote local value creation. Statkraft's division, "Host Norway," works to facilitate the establishment of green industries based on renewable power in Norway.

Through this collaboration, the parties aim to attract stakeholders to an attractive area for future-oriented business and industrial ventures.

"With its central location in Grenland and proximity to strong industrial environments and essential infrastructure, we have great confidence in Frier Vest," says Atle Haga, Head of Host Norway at Statkraft. "We have been working with green industries for nearly a decade, and we see that our long-term commitment and renewable energy solutions are attractive."

"Frier Vest has been working for several years to secure landowner agreements, port facilities, and the regulation of this vast land area," says Geir Vala, CEO of Frier Vest. He emphasizes that the collaboration with Statkraft enhances the industrial park's international visibility and that they will focus on finding viable power supply solutions for the area, which is particularly crucial for energy-intensive industries.

Smart Port at Frier Vest

In December of last year, an agreement was reached with Grenland Port IKS for leasing a significant area for the development of a new smart port based on green solutions. The development of Frier Vest Port Terminal is well underway, and the area near the sea is transforming week by week.

In June of this year, the zoning plan for Frier Tråk was also approved by the municipal council of Bamble Municipality. An extensive zoning plan covering 3,700 acres has thus been completed and approved in record time. Ongoing processes with potential stakeholders confirm that Frier Vest is highly relevant as a location for local, national, and international actors. We are very pleased to have Statkraft on board in the development of Frier Vest, concludes Vala.
